Completed actions at a specific point in the past.
- Finished, one-time actions
- Actions with a clear start or end
- A sequence of past events

How to form it
Drop the ending and add the preterite endings. Many common verbs use an irregular stem.

- -é, -aste, -ó, -amos, -asteis, -aron
- -er
- -í, -iste, -ió, -imos, -isteis, -ieron
- -ir
- -í, -iste, -ió, -imos, -isteis, -ieron
“Ayer comí paella.” Yesterday I ate paella.
“Fuimos a Madrid en 2019.” We went to Madrid in 2019.
