How to use ser
Use ser for what something is: identity, profession, origin, what it's made of, time and dates, and lasting traits.
- Soy de México.I'm from Mexico.
- Son las tres y media.It's half past three.
- La mesa es de madera.The table is made of wood.
- Mi padre era profesor.My father was a teacher.
Common mistake: Location of events uses ser, not estar: «La fiesta es en mi casa» (The party is at my house).
